I don't know if you have netflix, but all 3 seasons are up on the instant on if you have it. Either way I really would recommend this show. Under its kiddie exterior is a solid plot, interesting characters, and great writing. Plus the universe that the show takes place in is really interesting.

This looks like it will center around a female Waterbender Avatar. Aang will probably visit the new avatar in spirit form much like Roku did for Aang. After all this new avatar has to learn airbending somehow.
Aang and Katara most likely had a child(if not more) so maybe Aang taught his child airbending.

I think that Aang would have to die for the next Avatar to be born. Therefor I don't think this would be possible.

No, I meant that Aang's child could teach the new Avatar airbending

The show was officially announced today.

Check out the press release plus a cool shot of Korra in front of an industrialized city

"The Legend of Korra follows the adventures of a "passionate, rebellious and fearless" teenager from the Southern Water Tribe, a girl named Korra. Having already mastered three of the four elements (Earth, Water, and Fire), she seeks to master the final element of Air. Her travels eventually lead her to the metropolis of Republic City, an epicenter for the modern Avatar world. Although a thriving society of benders and non-benders alike, Republic City is also ridden with crime, including an anti-bending rebellion that is gaining momentum. Under the guidance of Aang's son, Tenzin, Korra begins her airbending training as she confronts the dangers ahead of her. "

she already knows 3 of the elements? cool, but how many seasons can they do this for?

They can probably devote one season to that rebellion and another to her fully mastering air-bending (with her making a little progress here and there throughout the course of the new series). Then, depending on the stories of both of those seasons, they can expand further on what they've made and probably get a third season pretty easy (followed by a fourth, fifth, sixth, etc etc). They can also go into Aang's future that we don't get to see in that 70 Year gap.

I will probably watch this. To be honest. I didn't like Aanng(sp?)

I'm willing to bet that Aang appears as a spirit as Roku did in the original series, just because I doubt Aang's son knew as much air bending as his father/was as good at it. While I appreciate that the plot will probably start off at a faster pace with Korra already knowing three elements, it could definitely cut down on the length of the series... depending on how much time they devote to the characters and tying the two series together(I'm willing to bet a descendant of Zuko has some involvement), they can probably get at least two seasons.
