Becoming a Champion (Application) - Read!

    Champions of the Force
"The Best Damn Republic Guild Out There"

    Welcome to our forums!

*NOTE: Since everyone seems to be missing the point - I'm going to put it here. Treat these applications like a job. I (Callaghan) am not going to accept you if you do not.*

If this is your first time applying to our guild, let me say - thank you! It is an honor to have you interested in our fine establishment! Champions of the Force is a guild that strives to be the best of the best - so we demand that our potential applicants put forth all the effort they can in order to keep the strong foundation.

This application will probably not be like any other application you have ever submitted before.

    Why?

Because we're not just going to ask you the typical "What games have you played lulz" questions - but we're going to be asking you questions about your character - personal questions that describe you. We don't want typical joe smhoes in this guild - we want the best and the brightest.

Now - about the application. There is a 3-strike system in place when judging applications.

If you make a broad mistake - such as not bolding your questions or not fleshing out your answers - a strike will be used against you. Minor errors we won't generally count against you - unless it's a completely stupid one.

Note - there are chances where an applicant can and will be denied without having any strikes against them. We do hold the right to deny anyone we choose at any time during their attempt to enter the guild. It is our guild that you are trying to earn a spot in.

When making an application post, make sure to put it in the Guild Application forum! If you post it in the Trial Members section or anywhere else, your thread will be moved and you will be given a strike. This it makes it much easier for us to maintain our applications and this section of the site in general.

Once you are accepted, you will be put on a two week Trial Period. You will have to post actively during this trial to be accepted as a member. If you cannot do this, you will not be allowed in the guild. Prospective members will also be required to attend ONE Guild Meet n' Greet, so that you may meet the other members, giving us a feel for you as a person, and not be just another number to our guild.

We hope that you enjoy your stay at CotF, and good luck in applying for membership!

    Regards,
    The Admissions Team

    Application for Membership

    Now, a couple of things before we move on to the application;

Did you read the Rules? Go do it. We're not going to have any problems are we?

Now, the following are examples of both a good AND bad application.

It should be noted that the application format has changed since these two have been written - and their only purpose currently is to help you understand how seriously we want you to take this.

    "How To Present An Application"

    Name (Real Name): Casey Moore
Age (If you are under 16 – stop here): 22
Timezone (Location): US Eastern (GMT - 5) Canandaigua, New York State
How did you find us?: Swtor.com's Guild Recruitment Forum

(1)Why do you wish to join the Champions of the Force?
Seems like a well set up group. I am seeking a group that does both PVP and RP, and I believe I saw something about that in the description of the group, and due to how professional this guild seems, it was the first choice for me.

(2)If accepted into CotF, what would you bring to the table?
Well it depends on what you guys need. My personal skills include making comics, posters, movies, and short films (I have a registered version of FRAPS). I'm also a very friendly person and often help with common issues, and even more complex issues. My friends have also told me that I make a good consular (or whatever the word is for someone who helps people with issues), so I'd make a good person to come to if there was a problem with another guild member, or if someone was just having a bad day and needed to vent.

    (3)Why should CotF accept you?
Good question. I have no definite reason why CotF should accept me, but if they're looking to make a recruitment video of sorts, or get some kind of comic going just for fun, then I'm here to do it for them. Other than that, I can be very loyal to a group once I come to like it, so I guess the reason CotF should accept me as a member is because I would provide a lot to the guild in return for nothing.

(4)If any, which members do you know in our guild, and what is your relationship?
    N/A

(5)Tell us something about yourself outside of SW:TOR; what kind of hobbies are you interested in, etc?
Most of the information about myself is listed in #2. I should probably note ahead of time, though, is that I do, in fact, have 2 mental disabilities (though a lot of people are stunned when I say that). I tend to get overly obsessive about some things and will keep going until I utterly anger someone to the point of yelling at me, so let me start now by saying: If I'm doing something wrong, you need to tell me right away or I will keep doing it.

Other than that, my hobbies include writing, drawing, making movies, and watching some television. I'm a casual gamer and enjoy role play on a daily basis. I'm also a member of an online military group called 39th Black Watch, which is a group based off a video game called "Second Life", and within that group, I build weapons, armor, some base designs, etc. I'm also a base defender.

(6)Have you been a part of any other SW:TOR Pre-Launch guilds? (Yes or No)’
    No

    (7) Please list your computer specs
My computer is built from my own two hands:
Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
    Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU
    E8400 @ 3.00 GHz
    4.00 GB of RAM
    - GeForce 9800 GTX+ Graphic Card
    - Nvidia SLI 750i Motherboard
    - 1 Terrabyte Hard Drive

    (8) Do you have ventrilo installed and a working mic?
    Yes and Yes

    (9) Do you have a reliable internet connection? Are you able to play for long periods of time without interruption?
Yes, I do and yes I am.

    (10) Are you easily offended?
No, especially when it comes to video games. People say stupid stuff to people on the internet in an effort to anger one another, so I let them be and move on.

    ---------------------------------------------------
    Character Information
((I assume this is for Role Playing purposes?))
    Name: Tyrav WhiteWing

    Race: Kushiban

    Class: Jedi

    Alignment: Good

    Physical Description:
Like most Kushiban, Tyrav is always white furred and about as tall as a pet cat when standing on all fours. When he gets angry, which is absolutely rare, his fur will turn black, like most Kushiban. Tyrav likes to be pet from time to time, but he expects people to know when to be serious. His eyes are bright blue and his fur is neat.

    Character Traits:
    Strengths:

    - Calm
    - Patient
    - Relaxed
    - Knowledgable
    - Observant
    - Compassionate
    - Empathetic
    - Speed

    Weaknesses:
    - Shy
    - Fragile (easily hurt mentally / physically)
    - Appearence (Looks like a common pet, so people misjudge him)
    - Unable to fly a ship
    - Unable to drive a vehicle

    Character Biography:
Tyrav has always been a Jedi Knight, but he has never taken on a Padawan, and the reason for this is because he exiled himself. He felt that he did not belong in the order, so he exiled himself to a remote location on Endor. Upon escaping various beasts, including the Ewoks, who considered him a meal, he took refuge in a cave on Endor. Only recently has he chosen to return to society, always carrying his Lightsaber with him and wearing a cloak to conceal it. He conceals himself on Coruscant, watching the Jedi Order, defending them from threats.

    Interested in Piloting:
Yes and no. Tyrav enjoys being in a space ship more than he enjoys being on a planet, mostly because he has always found space interesting. However, due to his short arms, he is unable to pilot any craft without special modifications, and special modifications have not been made for him. Instead, he travels as a passenger aboard starships and hides in cargo holds of other ships.

    Please complete the following;
    (1) MMO Experience;

    IF YOU PLAYED STAR WARS GALAXY;
    Character Name: Alexdro GrayForce
    Class: Structure Trader
    Server: Europe-FarStar
Guild (And why you left, if you did): I joined a multitude of guilds, but for one reason: As a structure crafter, I knew guilds would require structures, so once I managed to get one guild up off the ground, I'd move on and help other guilds.
How long have you been playing: Since it came out. Stopped playing about 2 years ago.
Favorite Content of the game and why: Space combat, and because I've always loved piloting
Raiding Experience (Also, how often you raided): Never raided, because at the time of having Star Wars Galaxies, my computer was absolute crud, so I could ONLY be a trader to avoid lag.

    PLEASE LIST ANY OTHER MMOS HERE – FOLLOWING THE SAME QUESTION PARAMETERS AS THE ONES LISTED ABOVE (Name, Guild, Level, etc etc.);

    Game: Guild Wars
Character Name: Scourge the Defiled, Raiya the Frigid
Class: Necromancer / Monk, Elementalist / Necromancer
Server: All (No such thing as a server in Guild Wars; just districts)
Guild: Dragons of Razgriz (I left because I stopped playing Guild Wars for some time. I rejoined them again and left again after becoming inactive)
How Long Have You Been Playing: Since a few months after it came out. I occasionally pop on and off of it these days.
Favorite Content of the game and why: The storyline, because I enjoyed having something to strive for besides leveling up.
Raiding Experience: I never took part in raids in Guild Wars, nor PVP.

    Game: AirRivals
    Character Name: Liberation
    Class: I-Gear
    Server: Auriga
Guild: (I have forgotten because I haven't played in so long).
How Long Have You Been Playing: Since it used to be called Space Cowboy Online (since 06)
Favorite Content of the game and why: The massive PVP battles. I have NEVER played a game that supported that many players in one area without having a server crash.
Raiding Experience: Minimal. I occasionally fought bosses and raided enemy locations with my guild. Other than that, I mostly defended my nation.

(2)NON-MMO Experience (Multiplayer FPS, RTS, etc)

Halo series, Pokemon games, Starcraft, Star Wars: Empire at War, Rogue Squadron Series, Civilization II: Test of Time, etc. I have played many, many games in my past.

    Instructions:

Please cut-and-paste the application below, fill it out, and post it as a new topic in our public Guild Application forum. It is advised that you follow up with us, as anyone in guild may ask clarifying questions. Please treat this application like a job application. Details, details, details. If you wouldn't submit it to a workplace, don't submit it to us!

PLEASE INCLUDE A COPY OF THE QUESTIONS IN YOUR APPLICATION, AND DIFFERENTIATE THEM FROM YOUR ANSWERS. FOR EXAMPLE, BOLD OR UNDERLINE THE QUESTIONS.

In the title to your application please include your desired character name and class. For example: Callaghan-Jedi

You must have a microphone and be able to use it on ventrilo.

We do not play for ourselves, we play for the guild and any attitudes outside of this will end your trial pretty quickly.

Take these applications as serious as you would applying to a job. If you don't, then don't at all expect a spot in this guild.

    ---------------------------------------------------
Once your application is approved and you are accepted into the guild as a Trial Member, you will begin a two week trial period wherein you are required to post both actively as well as constructively! You are also required to attend at least ONE Guild Meet n' Greet. If you fail to do either of these two things, your application will be denied and you will have to reapply.

Once the two week trial period is over, it's up to YOU (not us) to come forward and tell us that you're up for review for full membership. Why? Because it not only shows that you've been tracking your own progress, but it also shows us that you WANT to be a part of this guild.

If you don't do this, you'll just be a trial member forever. It's all up to you on how well this trial goes.

Thank you for your interest in the guild - and good luck!

    FAQ

    Is Callaghan an asshole?

Yes! As a matter of fact, he is often known as the guild asshole - but there is a good reason for it!

We ask people to treat this application like a job.

    There are people who will come into this guild and just post weak applications with weak answers and expect it to be just fine. The reason why I'm being a hardass is because one bad remark about their application and 50% of the applicants will either;

A.) Realize they're applying for something that requires a bit more out of them

    or

B.) Quit the application out of pure laziness.

Your application is your first impression of who you are and what you bring to this guild. Two sentence answers that aren't fleshed out and tell us little about who YOU are don't give us a good idea about you as a person and that makes it harder to invite someone into the guild.

I ask for applicants to impress because it also shows how MUCH they want into the guild. If they're not willing to put in the time to make the application LOOK good and SOUND good - which is a LOT simpler than it seems - than how am I to believe that they will put in good effort in our PvE or PvP sections of the guild?

If your answers are weak - I will tell you that flat out.

    --------------------------------------------

Does this guild have an IRC channel?

No, currently our forms of communication are limited to the shoutbox on the forums and the vent server. Should the need arise to expand - it will be decided on which path we will take.

    --------------------------------------------

How can one learn more about your guild?

We do have a guild wiki - kept by the local keeper, Zenkou - where you can find any and all information regarding the guild and most of it's workings.

    More to come...

    REMINDER

Now I know this has been somewhat confusing to all of you. I don't blame you, I had to read it twice to fully understand it. When reading about how to post an application, there are two example applications. One is The right way to make an app, and one is The wrong way. To help ensure you get into the guild easier and without grief, we ask that you all

    READ CAREFULLY.

It might be a hard concept to grasp, but it is for your benefit as well as ours. Good luck to you all, and I hope you will stick with it and become a member. Also do NOT post apps in the TRIAL members section. You have not been accepted yet and therefore are not on trial. Good day.

The current Admissions Team members are:

    Requiem, Barion and Magnus.

You must have your application accepted by each member of the Admissions Team before your Trial Period will begin.

If you have any questions about anything during your Trial Period, don't hesitate to send a Visitor's Message or Private Message to any member of the Admissions Team. Please remember that the ONLY people you should be PMing questions to about the Trial Period are the three Guild Members listed above. It is their job to help you out while you are attempting to join the Guild. Do NOT go around spamming questions to anyone who isn't on the Admissions Team.

NOTE: This post is to be edited as the Admissions Team changes in the future.
